Client Counseling Competition

BOARD OF ADVOCATES
Thurgood Marshall School of Law

Annual Client Counseling Competition

Begins November 9, 2009

  • 2 students per team to act as co-counsel
  • Must dress in professional attire
  • Teams must provide own client and timekeeper
  • Each competition round will last 30 minutes
  • It is encouraged that students be creative in bringing or using props that would be appropriate in a law firm setting.

The Client Counseling Competition simulates a law office consultation in which law students, acting as attorneys, are presented with a client matter. They conduct an interview with a person playing the role of the client and then explain how they would proceed further in the hypothetical situation. Each team, consisting of 2 attorneys and a client, will be competing to represent TMSL at the regional competition and for prize money.

Client Counseling Competition is November 9-12 , 2009.
